Craig Westwood – Press Information

Songwriter Craig Westwood began releasing solo work in 2023 after three decades of writing in the background of work and family life. His melodic, thoughtful pop explores perspective and resilience, while his series Life the Universe + Music charts the realities of building an independent career later in life.

Craig Westwood – Bio

Craig Westwood has been writing songs for over three decades, building a substantial catalogue shaped by melody, language and lived experience. In 2023, after what he describes as “a long apprenticeship,” he began releasing solo material — a deliberate new chapter in a lifelong relationship with music that ran alongside work, family and everyday life.

Rooted in pop and acoustic rock, Craig’s songs are melodic, reflective and often threaded with understated wit. His writing explores time, resilience, perspective and human connection — the view from someone who has gathered stories and experience over time. Some songs suggest wide horizons and open skies; others are intimate studies of relationships, memory and the quiet absurdities of modern life.

From his studio in rural France, Craig continues to release singles leading toward his forthcoming album The Soaring Altitude of Language. Alongside his releases, he documents the realities of building an independent music career later in life through his YouTube documentary series Life the Universe + Music (LU+M) — which he jokingly refers to as “how not to begin a career in music” — a candid chronicle of the steep learning curve of recording, collaboration and release.

Next Release: ‘ERE I AM J.H.’

Craig Westwood began releasing solo music in 2023 after three decades of songwriting. His latest project honours his late collaborator John Ward Helliwell, setting Helliwell’s distinctive, sometimes ghost-tinged and darkly imaginative lyrics to music in a reflective and quietly theatrical collection.
